What is iBacalao?

iBacalao is an AI-assisted learning workspace for students across education levels and subjects. Bring school tools into your workflow for homework, studying, writing, exam prep, and projects. Students can add task instructions themselves or optionally use available context from a supported school connection; available context and actions vary by integration. Students use AI assistance, review the resulting work, and decide what to submit. Diploma Programme IA, Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge criteria support is a specialist workflow within the broader product.

How does assignment work?

Students can add task instructions themselves or, optionally, use available context from a supported school connection. Connection access, available context, and actions vary by integration. In supported assignment workflows, iBacalao can draft or fill a document for the student to review and edit. Students review the result, decide what to submit, and follow their school's submission process.

How does draft review work?

Where a supported review workflow is configured, iBacalao checks a draft you provide against the selected criteria and returns feedback and suggested next steps. Diploma Programme IA, Extended Essay, and TOK are specialist examples of that review path. Review AI-assisted work and follow your school's rules.

An iBacalao score is practice feedback against configured criteria. It is not an official exam grade, a predicted final grade, or evidence of agreement with examiners.

Specialist IB criteria (optional)

The IA review supports 26 Diploma Programme subject configurations. Separate review workflows cover Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge drafts.

Which IB assessment sessions are supported?

SL/HL where the selected subject distinguishes levels. Extended Essay uses the 34-mark rubric through November 2026 and the 30-mark first-assessment-2027 rubric from May 2027 onward. Theory of Knowledge essay uses the current-session 0–10 assessment instrument.

Science Internal Assessments can use the first-assessment-2025 scientific-investigation criteria where that session applies. Always select the session that matches the student's examination.

Which platforms are available?

• The web app is available at ibacalao.com, including on desktop browsers.
• iBacalao has an iOS app that uses App Store products and localized prices shown in the app. Web pricing does not establish App Store availability or pricing.
• iBacalao publishes a direct macOS download when an artifact is present in the public desktop release manifest. Current public release metadata covers Apple silicon Macs.
• iBacalao publishes a direct 64-bit Windows download when an artifact is present in the public desktop release manifest.

What happens to uploaded work?

Optional analytics stay off until accepted. iBacalao states it does not sell personal data and honors Global Privacy Control. Signed-in review history can store scores, criteria, AI output, and a document extract. Older summaries may be pruned over time; associated detailed records are removed when you delete your account.

Document text may be sent to configured AI providers (Configured workflows may use Groq, Together AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or dedicated originality/detection providers depending on the selected feature and available route). Users below the applicable digital-consent age are directed to obtain parent or guardian permission for email and optional analytics.
