Simulated teaching examples

IA Examples: Worked Examples by Subject

These IA examples are original iBacalao teaching examples, not real student work and not official or examiner-scored exemplars. Any numerical results or scenarios inside them are simulated unless a source is explicitly named. Use them to inspect how reasoning becomes more explicit; do not cite the invented evidence in your own work.

The short answer

Original simulated teaching examples compare under-specified and more explicit criterion evidence. The figures and scenarios are not student work, official exemplars, or sources to cite.

IB Chemistry IA example

IB Physics IA example

Length of a pendulum and its period

IB Psychology IA example

Reducing exam stress in final-year students

What do the annotations show?

The annotations explain how evidence and reasoning can meet a subject's criterion, then compare a weak excerpt with a stronger one.

What do these worked examples show?

They show how a vague claim becomes auditable: the question or aim is defined, the evidence is visible, the reasoning can be followed, and limitations are tied to the actual work.

Should I copy the structure of an exemplar?

Use official exemplars to see how criteria are applied, not as a structure to copy. Your own structure still has to fit your task, evidence, and assessment session.

Where are the official IB exemplars?

The IB publishes marked exemplars with examiner comments in its Programme Resource Centre. Schools have access, so ask your subject teacher for the pack that matches your assessment session.
