How iBacalao reviews an Internal Assessment draft

This page documents the current review contract and the synthetic draft used by the end-to-end review smoke test. It is first-party product evidence, not an independent accuracy study and not a claim that an estimated score will match an official mark.

What the review is given

The review workflow receives the student-authored draft plus the selected subject and level. It then loads the configured assessment criteria for that subject and level.

The draft is treated as evidence to assess, not as instructions to the system. Text inside the draft that looks like a command is still treated as student content.

Synthetic smoke-test input

This text is invented for testing. It is not student work and contains deliberate weaknesses so the review pipeline has criterion evidence and revision issues to identify.

This internal assessment investigates how changing the concentration of hydrogen
peroxide affects the rate of the catalase enzyme reaction in potato tissue. The
research question is: how does the concentration of hydrogen peroxide affect the
volume of oxygen produced by catalase in potato discs over sixty seconds? I chose
this topic because enzymes are important in biology and I wanted to understand
how substrate concentration changes reaction rates in a measurable way.

For the method, I cut potato discs using a cork borer so that each disc had the
same diameter. I placed three discs into a conical flask containing hydrogen
peroxide at concentrations of one, two, three, four and five percent. I collected
the oxygen produced using a gas syringe and recorded the volume after sixty
seconds. I repeated each concentration three times and calculated a mean value.
The temperature of the room was not controlled, and I did not measure the pH of
the solutions. The potato came from the same potato for all trials.

My results showed that as the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increased, the
volume of oxygen collected also increased. At one percent the mean volume was
twelve millilitres and at five percent the mean volume was forty eight
millilitres. The relationship looked roughly linear across the range I tested,
although the increase between four and five percent was smaller than the earlier
increases, which might suggest the enzyme was approaching saturation.

In conclusion, higher substrate concentration increased the reaction rate. The
experiment could be improved by controlling temperature with a water bath and by
using more repeats to reduce the effect of random error.

What the output contract requires

A complete IA review must return every configured criterion. Each criterion is converted into a score, verdict, and repair card so the student can see what matters and how to verify a revision.

  1. 01One result for every configured assessment criterion
  2. 02An estimated criterion score and verdict
  3. 03The rubric language used for that criterion
  4. 04A repair priority: MUST FIX, COULD FIX, or IGNORE
  5. 05A specific problem located in the student's draft
  6. 06Why that problem matters for the criterion
  7. 07A concrete revision action
  8. 08An observable done-when check

How the smoke test fails loudly

When run, the end-to-end smoke test sends the synthetic draft through the real feedback endpoint. It fails if the endpoint does not return HTTP 200, if the response cannot be parsed as JSON, or if no scored criteria are returned. That catches prompt, schema, truncation, parser, and provider failures that a simple provider ping would miss.

What this evidence does not prove

  • It does not prove agreement with an official examiner on every score.
  • It does not turn an estimated score into an official grade or predicted grade.
  • It does not prove that every competitor uses the same rubric, output contract, or privacy behavior.
  • It does not replace the school's academic-integrity rules or teacher feedback.
